Edradour

Established in 1825, Edradour is said be the smallest distillery in Scotland. housed in the original farm buildings dating from 1837 when the distillery moved to its current site near the ruins of Lindores Abbey - which is generally acknowledged to be the birthplace of Scottish Uisge Beathe (or Aquavite … the water of life). Besides worm tubs and other practices that are a throwback to Dickensian times, Edradour also uses the last working example of a “Morton Refrigerator” to cool the wort coming from the mash tun to the washbacks. As of today the distillery is run by 2-3 men and its total outturn is approximately 18 casks per week.
