For nearly 20 years, David Stirk has been talking, writing, travelling, making, selling, bottling and drinking all things whisky. David started his whisky career writing for Whisky Magazine and running global sales for indie bottler Wm Cadenhead. As well David was instrumental in the creation of the Malt Whisky Guide in the early 2000s. In 2005, David set out on his own and founded the Creative Whisky Company which, for 13 years, produced award-winning whiskies and gins. In 2013 he published "The Distilleries of Campbeltown" an in-depth study of the rise and fall of Scotland's first whisky capital. This represented one of only a handful of books to be published about the Campbeltown region since Alfred Barnard's famous treatise, "The Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom" circa 1887.
In his new book, "Independent Scotch - the History of Independent Bottlers" David chronicles the demise of the small blending and brokering firms from the 1940s - 1980s and the rise of Independent Bottlers from the 1980s onwards. This is a must-have for any whisky collector's library.
