Cadenhead Chairman's Stock Fettrcairn 17 yr Cask Strength

The Chairman’s Stock bottlings explore an array of casks which have been specially selected from our late Chairman Hedley G Wright’s private collection.

Released in small batches to preserve the limited stock available, the Chairman’s Stock range features single cask, cask strength whiskies varying in age and cask type.

Fettercairn is a highland distillery sat by the Cairngorm Mountatins. Given the equipment and production style, it's easy to see why a firm, relatively heavy, nutty style whisky is created. Furthermore, between 1995 & 2009, the condensers were made of stainless steel, adding a slightly burnt, pot ale character to the new make. However, a cooling ring at the top of the swan neck, spraying cold water down the still sides, helps reflux and guides the spirit towards a lighter profile.

This expression was re-casked into a Grenadian Rum Barrel in 2019.  Total worldwide outturn: 240 bottles

Producer's Tasting Notes

Nose: Barbecued bananas, mineral notes, pampas grass, sherbert lemons.

Palate: Coastal notes, miso, chalk.

Finish: Pineapple upside down cake, gooseberries, lemon zest.
