The Macallan Distillery obtained a license and began legal distillation in 1824. Macallan produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which was then carefully matured by independent bottlers Gordon and MacPhail in quality oak casks specifically selected for the Speymalt From Macallan Distillery range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky. Limited amounts of Speymalt From Macallan Distillery are bottled by G&M, and they are only released in selected worldwide markets.
The 2002 vintage was aged in a 1st-fill sherry cask (#9571) and bottled in 2024.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Nose: Stewed fruit aromas with dark chocolate and cinnamon.
Palate: Spicy, with raspberry compote, mixed nuts and black pepper.
Finish: Long with mature oak and blackcurrants.
