Initially released in 2013, this "unpeated" expression was created to celebrate Mr. Stitchell's retirement after 40 years at Caol Ila. This NAS version is from Diageo's Special Releases and marries together whisky aged in American Oak, rejuvenated American Oak and ex-bodega European Oak casks. And beware - it is bottled at cask strength.
Nose: Maritime: sea breeze on a wind-beaten coast, Fruity (lemons, kiwis, green apples), heather, grassy, nail polish, vanilla, pine needles.
Palate: Salty and rather dry, vanilla, honey, tea biscuits, liquorice, spicy (cinnamon).
Finish: Long: dry, green tea, grassy, salt, algae and malt.
