Founded in 1825 by merchant George Cooper in the town of Brechin, located within the burgh of Angus in Scotland's eastern highlands. In the 20th century the distillery was owned by Hiram Walker and also George Ballantine and Sons. Mothballed in 2000 the distillery was purchased and re-commissioned In 2003 by Angus Dundee and has been producing a full range of age statement products while still being a major component of the iconic Ballantine's blend.

Nose: Fresh fruit, white tea, grassy, biscuit and faint vanilla.

Palate: Malt, some light Spice, Vanilla Fudge, Green Fruits and a touch of Oak. Excellent creamy body, like a single-grain whisky. A bit sharp on the tongue burn, for a 46%. Resolves with marshmallow, raw pecans, and fresh sweet whipping cream. Light in character.

Finish: A soupy mix of vanilla bean, creme brûlée and vague nuttiness. Fades with strong notes of roasted chestnuts. A bit on the short side.
