Think a bourbon heart can't hold a single malt soul? Glenfiddich's 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve delivers the smooth sophistication of Scotland with the sweet kick of Kentucky. Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, waits 14 years as the whisky matures in ex-bourbon American Oak casks. It is then finished in charred new American Oak barrels supplied by The Kelvin Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky. The result is a rich, sweet and vibrant single malt that delivers complex flavours of woody spices with ripe summer fruit. It's an expression that will inspire Scotch and bourbon lovers alike.
Nose: Aroma of fresh, warm butter toffee stands out. Graham cracker and toasted marshmallow peek through with rich cocoa nib. Near the end, bright bursts of cinnamon from a spice jar mingle with mellow candied orange peel and fresh citrus zest.
Palate: The mouthfeel is creamy and soft. The toffee is predominant but cinnamon is there to spice things up. Weak instant black coffee and cocoa powder fills out the middle.
Finish: Faint Mexican vanilla. Dry oak stays on the tongue in the aftertaste.
