This is the first distillery to be opened on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. 100% of the hydro-electric power and cooling waters for the stills are sourced from the Glenmore River flowing outside the distillery. Using wood chips as a fuel source from surrounding forests, a biomass boiler provides the hot water to heat the stills.
Local barley, grown on the estate of one of the owners, is used for malt and the draff is distributed to local area farmers and the pot ale is used for fertilizing their fields.
A hotly anticipated release from the Ardnamurchan Distillery! AD is made with a cracking combo of the distillery's peated and unpeated spirit, and drawn from a mixture of 65% bourbon and 35% sherry casks. Expect notes of coastal air and honeyed malt aplenty from this one.
Nose: Soft, honeyed aromas.
Palate: Gentle notes of lemon, poached pears, sea salt, and light drifts of peat smoke.
Finish: Vanilla cream, ripe peaches, and apricot jam at the finish.
