Traditionally High West distillery has focused primarily on rye whiskies so the release of a cask strength bourbon is very exciting. High West does not disclose the origins of the bourbons used in the Cask Strength Series, the standard High West Bourbon is known to include bourbon from MGP as well as bourbons from two distilleries in Kentucky (likely Bardstown and one other).
High West Cask Collection Barbados Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon is a harmonious fusion of traditional bourbon craftsmanship and the exotic allure of Barbadian rum barrels.
Nose: Caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak mingle with hints of tropical fruit and spice
Palate: Creamy mouthfeel with toasted coconut, ripe bananas, and warm spices.
Finish: The warm spices linger.
