A fascinating blended malt whisky from Taiwan. The whisky is named after Yushan, the highest mountain in Taiwan. The mountain is known for its staggering beauty, and is also called Mount Jade. This spirit is produced at Nantou distillery, the state owned distillery on the island, more famous for producing Omar Single Malt. This particular whisky has been aged in a mixture of former Bourbon barrels and ex-sherry casks. An excellent whisky, and a testament to the growing maturity of the Taiwanese whisky scene.
Nose: Sultana, pineapple chunks, thyme honey and some spicy nutmeg.
Palate: Creamy vanilla and tangy orange, joined by rounded malt and buttery biscuit.
Finish: Coffee bean, orange again and a slightly floral hint lingering right at the end.
