AnCnoc

AnCnoc

Founded in 1894, the Knockdu distillery is located in the picturesque Scottish Highlands village of Knock in Aberdeenshire. Surrounded by fields of barley and peat, and conveniently located near the Great North Railway line, the distillery was considered very modern when it first opened, though it is now regarded for the traditional fashion in which they continue to make their whisky. For example, when many distilleries switched to condensers on their Lyne Arms, Knockdu stuck with and still uses worm tubs to cool the vapours from the Spirit Still. The whisky produced was once called Knockdu, but was renamed anCnoc (pronounced a-nock) in 1994 to avoid confusion with the Speyside Knockando distillery.
