Carefully crafted and cask-perfected at the GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside, Meikle Toir peated single malt serves up a sweet smoke style impeccably balanced with the classically honeyed character of their distillate.
‘The Original’ is Glenallachie's classic single malt that truly champions their peated pursuit. Made with mainland peat from St. Fergus (35 ppm), the flavour contribution is sweeter than that anticipated of coastal peat.
The toast level of the virgin oak casks will add a lovely layer of vanilla and toffee flavours which, when intwined with the spicy contribution from the Rye casks, will give the perfect balance of sweet spiciness and peat smoke.
Distillery Tasting Notes
Nose: Baking spices, burnt honey and espresso, with hazelnuts, smoked almonds and butterscotch.
Palate: Sweet peat, rich chocolate and heather honey, with cinnamon, ginger and oak-smoked sugar.
Finish: Sharp and long, alcohol lingers. Honey, citrus and sweet smoke.
