Founded in 1798 in the town of Tobermory, on the island of Mull by local kelp merchant John Sinclair, the distillery was one of the first to takeout a distilling licence in 1823. Originally dubbed the Ledaig Distillery, it was renamed the Tobermory Distillery in 1979 and produces both non-peated (Tobermory) and peated (Ledaig) whisky. The current distillery manager, Cara Gilbert, is one of the youngest managers in the world and she teams with blender, Julieann Fernandez, to make up a formidable all-female management group.
