Shetland Reel

The Saxa Vord Distillery is located at the northern end of Unst, the most northerly inhabited island in the UK. It is, in fact, closer to Norway than London. Four whisky enthusiasts, Frank and Debbie Strang & Stuart and Wilma Nickerson re-purposed an abadoned RAF site into a distillery and an award-winning tourist resort with year round self-catering accommodation, seasonal hostel and bar/restaurant. Stuart Nickerson has managed several distilleries since getting his start in 1979.
