To craft The GlenAllachie Wine Series, the distillery first expertly matures their spirit in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels. The whisky is then re-casked for an additional 2 year maturation in skillfully sourced wine barriques.
Located in the heart of Portugal, the Douro Valley is one of the world’s oldest protected wine regions and are famously known to produce robust, characterful red wines.
The barriques selected for secondary maturation impart richness of both colour and flavour to the Glenallachie spirit, offering decadent layers of dried stone fruits and delicate hints of warming spice.
Distillery Tasting Notes
Nose: Waves of plum jam, clementines and dried red berries, with notes of heather honey and vanilla spice.
Palate: Bursting with dried apricots, heather honey and crystalised fruits, followed by hints of ripe black fruits, butterscotch and cinnamon spice.
Finish: Ripe black fruits, butterscotch, and cinnamon spice.
