Torabhaig became the second distillery on the Isle of Skye and the first to be granted a license to distill since Talisker in 1830.
The distillery is located near the town of Teangue. Some of the outbuildings were built using stone from the Caisteal Chamois (also known as Knock or Cnoc Castle) dating back to 1630 and Clan MacDonald.
Torabhaig Allt Gleann Single Malt is the first release in The Legacy Series. The 2017 is named after the year the spirit first flowed from the stills.
This expression exclusively uses Concerto barley with a phenolic content of 55-60 ppm. The final phenolic content of whisky is 16 ppm prior to ageing in first-fill bourbon barrels.
Nose: Earthy peat smoke, fresh shortbread, lemon zest and ocean brine.
Palate: Bold peat with a creamy, oily weightiness. Roasted chestnuts and a touch of medicinal-tinged heather.
Finish: Medium finish with orchard fruits, vanilla and big hits of peat smoke. Briny sea spray lingers.
