Passion for single malt Scotch whisky has been at the heart of the Urquhart family business for four generations. This range is an ever-changing collection of unique perspectives on distilleries’ own bottlings, non-chill-filtered single cask and small batch expressions bottled at cask strength — exceptional one-offs.
The Whisky: Distilled in 2007 at Glen Spey Distillery located in the town of Rothes. The distillery employs a ‘purifier pipe’ that increases the reflux during distillation, resulting in a spirit that is known for its light oiliness and nuttiness. Rarely sold as a single malt, the majority of the distillery output goes into the J & B blend.
Aged in a first fill bourbon barrel (cask #805115) the total worldwide outturn: 202 bottles.
Nose: Rich vanilla pod aromas complement poached pear and ripe red apple. Roasted mixed nuts give way to dark honey and brown sugar.
Palate: Pineapple and banana notes lead to subtle coconut. Milk chocolate is followed by zesty lime peel and Honeydew melon.
Finish: A medium bodied finish with tropical fruit.
