This is the third release of the Renaissance series from Highland distiller, Glen Garioch. The distillate was aged in both sherry and bourbon casks, before being bottled at a very healthy, higher than average ABV. And if chocolate is your thing, this whisky fits the bill.
Nose: Sweet maltiness with orange zest. Fresh dinner rolls straight from the oven slathered with dark, thick honey.
Palate: Fruit and spice, orange oil, toffee, and vanilla. With a touch of water orange marmalade comes to the fore, with milk chocolate and a crack of black pepper.
Finish: Long, with chocolate-covered ginger, and white pepper. The orange marmalade carries through from the palate.
