Originally built to fulfill the demands for the Chivas brand, it quickly morphed to become Seagram's experimental plant. Alternating between
double and triple distilling, Glen Keith was the first distillery to run trials using a wheat mash, different yeast types and also the first distillery to use gas-fired direct heating (although now all the stills are steam heated). While there was a 10 year official bottling for a short time, most of the Glen Keith these days come from independent bottlers.
