Craigellachie

Craigellachie

The Craigellachie distillery is located in Aberlour, Banffshire near the village of Craigellachie at the centre of the Speyside whisky producing area. The name means 'rocky hill' and refers to the cliff that overlooks the confluence of the rivers Fiddich and Spey. From the distillery, perched high on the rock, one can gaze over the village, and the quaint John Telford - designed bridge, which crosses over the river Spey. Built in 1891 by Craigellachie Distillery Co. Limited, it was eventually incorporated as a limited company, and in 1896 it was reconstructed as Craigellachie-Glenlivet Distillery Ltd. During its history, the distillery has released only a handful of official bottlings as the majority of the distillery's product is primarily earmarked for Dewar's blended whisky. Finally, in 2014, Craigellachie began releasing its own single malt bottlings giving whisky lovers a chance to indulge in the distillery’s unique meaty character.
