John Hall began making whisky in 1992 and sold the first bottle of Forty Creek Whisky 10 years later. This was a huge gamble given that 12
distilleries closed in Canada between 1985 and 1995. Hall’s unique whiskies are a blend of three main ingredients — rye, corn and barley and all three grains are distilled and aged separately prior to blending. And copper pot stills are employed rather than the more common Coffey or column stills. The distillery is currently owned by Gruppo Campari.
