Glenmorangie distillery was established in 1843 at Tain in Ross-shire. Since 1983 (with very few exceptions) Glenmorangie has been the
best-selling single malt in Scotland. Globally, Glenmorangie owns about 6% of the single malt market. Known for having the tallest stills in Scotland (thanks to the long-necked design adapted from gin stills in the 1880s), Glenmorangie is light and fruity with hints of grassy characteristics. Glenmorangie is also known for its exacting standards regarding the selection of casks and innovative experimentation with different malt combinations (the Signet uses a chocolate malt for example). Finally, Glenmorangie was one of the pioneers in the use of 'finishing casks'.
