Midleton Distillery Complex is Ireland's largest distillery and home to the world's largest pot still. It produces many well-known Irish whiskey brands: Jameson, Midleton, Powers, Redbreast, Writers Tears, The Irishman, Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Red Spot, Blue Spot … well you get the idea. Established in 1780 by Scottish ex-pat, John Jameson, Jameson's Distillery called Dublin home. But in 1975 the ever expanding operation was moved to the town of Midleton in County Cork. This allowed production to increase significantly - an important fact given that by 1972 there were only two surviving Irish distilleries left: Bushmill's and Jameson's. Currently, the distillery is owned by Irish Distillers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard.
